The *AstraHP Coated* Whiteside Ultimate Flush Trim Bit (UDC9112) has a compression design to provide the cleanest cut when using templates leaving a crisp, clean edge on both the top and bottom edge of the work piece. Having a top and bottom bearing gives you the opportunity of working with either a top or bottom template. Whiteside’s compression spiral design, with a 7/8″ diameter bearing guide, makes this bit easy to use in the router and produces a superior quality trimmed edge. The 7/8″ carbide compression design creates a high shear angle for perfect cuts every time. Made In USA.
Compared to the Mega Flush Trim Bit, the UDC9112 is a true ultimate combination trim bit, with the cutter ground from a solid block of carbide.

Awesome, beautiful, clean finish. Be aware that the shank is extra long compared to most bits. This allows you to flush trim thick pieces in multiple passes, but make it a little awkward with some hand-held routers. Excellent for use in router lifts.

Everything it is touted to be. Truly an ultimate router bit. Jonathan Katz-Moses is right about it.

This thing is the be-all end-all for flush trimming. It cuts like butter and leaves a glassy smooth edge, handles all the templates I’ve thrown at it so far. Well worth it.

Excellent bit. Pricey but worth knowing you aren’t going to waste expensive wood.

Absolute butter. Worth the high price!
Glenn (verified owner) –
Yes, pricey…but even for hobbyist woodworker looking to take their work to the next level in regards to cut surface quality and reduced sanding time, this tool is definitely worth it!

Bit is amazing as expected. Real treat is this company. I accidentally ordered two of a product when i only needed one. I didn’t realize it till the next day which was a Saturday. I emailed thinking oh well if they cant catvh it im the one who screwed up. An employee emailed me less than a couple hours later that it hadnt shipped yet and it would be changed Monday morning. They did just as stated and earned a loyal customer in the process. 5 * to Bitsbits!

Every once in a very long while I run across a product that surpasses my hopes for it. Jonathan Katz-Moses challenged me to try one of these bits claiming it was the best bit he had ever used. Despite the steep price, I opened my wallet and ordered one. When it arrived I was surprised at how hefty it was. I installed the bit into my router table and did some pattern routing. Wow ! This bit has very little drag, leaves a tiny burn only when I foolishly stop progress, leaves a finish safe for a grandchild’s fingers to explore, and does all that in thick hardwood. That bit now lives in my router table. Aside from plunge bits and the occasional profile requirement, I expect the only additional bit I will require like this is the same bit in a smaller radius for tighter inside curves. I am giving away all my straight bits this week. This new bit is so good it has even impressed my dog. Now………. as soon as my wife turns her back, the tighter radius bit will be ordered. Great value, and a great buying experience from Bits&Bits. They executed beautifully and exactly as advertised. Don’t tell them however I said that. :>)

I purchased this bit for a specific project requiring a template and some sweeping curves, on one of the hardest woods available, Sathorn which is comparable to Wenge. I ended up on a powerful spindle router/shaper due to the table size vs a tabletop router cabinet. The bit is exceptional and absolutely leaves a very smooth finish. This is my first Astra coated bit and not my last. I too would like a smaller diameter, as Valleywood mentioned. A special thanks to JK-M for the marketing and discount. Thanks Very Much!

Just received it this past week, have not put it work. But it looks and feels a fine quality bit. Will post a review soon.

Looking forward to hearing how it worked for you!

Absolutely amazing flush trim bit. It cuts with ease and left only a small amount of burning. The top bearing was off by about 1/64 but it cleaned up easily with sanding. I would 100% recommend this bit to anyone who does a lot of template routing.

Shane, thanks for letting us know about this issue! we sent out a replacement, glad to hear that you received it and the new one is working as advertised!

This thing’s a beast! I was having trouble routing patterns with a very good Whiteside spiral bit. I went on Youtube to see if I could get some help on my technique and found videos touting this bit. About an hour after I ordered it, I found a code for a discount. Thinking I had missed out, I emailed the company to see if I could still get the discount and they applied it for me. Great customer service! And the bit, along with some technique tweaks, has solved the problems I was having. There was a fair amount of burning, but I was running the rpm’s too high. Max should be 18,000 and I think I was running 22,000.

Dennis, thanks for the review, glad it worked out and solved your challenges! And yes, RPM is critical on a bit like this, 13-15k is what we’ve found to be the sweet spot for this bit.

I have yet to use this product, but I can say that customer service is taken seriously. The product is supposedly the best – certainly arrived promptly. International customers must consider that duty will be added to quoted prices.

Well, I am a relatively new (one year) woodworker. Templates make a lot of sense to me but before now I have never been very successful at getting a clean cut. Wow, using your bit made me a professional in the first pass. These things are amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you. It’s not cheap, but we’ll worth the money!

This thing is a beast! Chewed through walnut for some custom frames I was doing with ease. Probably the best combo flush trim bit I’ve ever come across. Zero tear out!

***!!!WARNING!!!***
Using this bit will render all other flush-trim bits obsolete. Seriously, the results are spectacular. I got my bit two days ago and just used it for a large 3/4″ white oak project and I can’t stop looking at the results with amazement. Thanks Bits & Bits!

Monster bit, cuts beautifully! I just ordered a 1/2 up cut spiral bit to get into some tighter spots because this is a big bit. 100% Faith I will be just as satisfied.

This bit is doing a great job of edging 6 of my 2X6X10 ft long fir boards. All 12 edges are smooth as ever.
