When using the Extra Long 1/4″ Up-Cut End Mill, proper speeds, feeds, and cut depths are critical to achieving optimal performance and preventing breakage. Due to its 4″ overall length and the naturally brittle nature of solid carbide, this bit requires careful handling to avoid undue stress. Exceeding recommended parameters or pushing the bit too hard can lead to snapping, especially in demanding applications. Always consult your CNC’s guidelines and adjust for material type to ensure smooth, precise cuts and extend the life of your bit. Patience and precision are key to maximizing both performance and durability.

Very rarely do I carve anything over 3/4 inch but I had a project that had to reach 1 1/4 inch deep the extra long LOC came through for me

I was concerned that this bit might not be able to carve through 2 1/2″ solid walnut and might break, so I bought two bits just in case. However, the two of them cut out six large table pedestal legs (two and half hours each) without a hitch. Of course, with router bits, there is always the danger of breakage. It this case, I was pleasantly surprised and have ordered more.
