A router bit bearing is also known as a “pilot bearing” because it’s used to guide the bit to follow the correct path when cutting into different materials. You will need router bearings if you want to make truly accurate cuts in your work. Be sure to use a router bearing as a reference point as you cut as straight and as smooth as you can along your desired line.

To find the right router bit bearing, you should first try to use the internal diameter (using the filters above) as a first reference point because this will tell you if your current router bit is compatible with the bearing. And depending on the diameter of your router bit bearing, the cutting depth can be limited in different ways. Router bit bearings with a larger diameter would mean that you would not be able to cut as far and as deep into the material you are cutting.
