Solid Carbide 80 degree engraving tool. Remember to choose a tip size. The tip size will determine the line width when it comes into contact with the material you are engraving. Very popular for engraving brass, aluminum, and stainless steel. For example when engraving 1/8″ tall letters use a .010 or .015 tip, but for 1/4″ tall letters use a .020 or .030 tip.

What are Engraving V-Bits?
V-bits produce a “V” shaped pass and are used for engraving, particularly for making signs.

I was looking for cutters to engrave some metal name plates. I tried several types from ball ends to end mills but it just wasn’t cutting it so to speak. I read about these on a forum and ordered them to see how they work. I’m very pleased to say they have worked well in aluminum using a single pass and stainless in two passes to be safe. The old saying about you get what you pay for really applies here. I can’t speak for longevity yet as I’ve only done some test cuts to setup the machine but they are working great so far.
