This bit is first class. After using it to template route yesterday, I am thoroughly impressed. I left between a 1/32 and 1/8 off the band saw and this little guy cut through all of it with no binding or kickback… even on end grain. Unbelievable quality and craftsmanship. Would highly recommend!

Look no further, buy this bit. I’ve gone through several straight flush trim bits in the past and finally got tired of either sharpening the few that had a just enough carbide on them to last a bit longer or buying another bit to finish a job. I honestly didn’t think spending money on a “premium” bit would make that much of a difference, but I was wrong; this bit is amazing. Yes, it cuts wood and can template route like the inexpensive straight bits I’ve been using, but the finished cut is on another level. Typically when I used the straight bits I had to deal with lots of burning in cherry and maple pieces but this compression bit glides across the wood leaving behind a near finish-ready surface. I’m also impressed with the way it handles change in grain direction while routing (which was always a pain in the past eating up time for additional setups at the table) and I look forward to seeing how the Astra coating holds up over the next year. Bottom line, I should have bought this sooner.

Cuts like butter. Any other bit would’ve added significantly to the time on my commissioned project, so it’s paid for itself.

This bit saves time and money in the long run because the finished edge is perfect. It cuts smooth and doesn’t leave any burning, even on end grain. I should have added this to my arsenal years ago instead of buying the $40 flush trim bits that heat up, dull quickly, burn my work and can be dangerous if not going down grain. Save up longer and just buy this bit first, you’ll be glad you did.

I bought this bit to replace a cheaper flush-trim bit and it does well at keeping the burning to a minimum (only used in on hard maple so far) but I was expecting a smoother finish. It leaves a small edge in the middle of the cut where the spiral direction changes. Maybe I just got one with a slight defect.

Scott, Sorry to hear you’re not satisfied with the finish, it does sound like you might have gotten a defective tool, we’ll get it replaced for you!

Once I got over the shock of having a piece of wood ripped to pieces, and figured out that I needed to prep the workpiece by pre-trimming close to the final shape, it worked beautifully. Although Im still pretty nervous about being close to such a powerful bit in a 3 HP router.

This is by far the best trim bit I have used. I didn’t experience kick back and worked excellent on the end grain. Super impressed!

Bits & Bits is an outstanding company and provides excellent customer service. It arrived in 2 days after I placed my order. The compression bit cuts extremely fast and clean. I will suggest that you reduce your router speed and let the bit do its job. It doesn’t heat up and burn your project. It’s worth spending a little more for a quality trim router bit.
